Funeral Services in South Auckland & Franklin
When you've lost someone close, the last thing you need is a process that feels rigid, or impersonal. At Waters Funerals, we work alongside your family to plan a funeral service that genuinely reflects your loved one, their life, their faith, their culture, the small details that made them who they were.
Two chapels, one family-run team, and almost forty years of combined experience caring for families across Pukekohe, Papatoetoe and the wider South Auckland region.
What our funeral service includes
We arrange every part of the service so your family can focus on being present with each other. A standard funeral service with Waters Funerals covers:
You don't have to chase paperwork, phone celebrants, or work out who needs to be told. We handle all of it.
Bringing your loved one into our care, day or night
Preparation, embalming and dressing in a private setting
Casket selection from our full merchandise range
Coordinating venue, celebrant or minister, music, flowers and order of service
Hearse and family vehicles from our fleet
Catering for the wake or hospitality afterwards, with our family owned caterer
All legal documentation, including the death certificate
Liaison with cemeteries, crematorium, churches, or other venues
An online tribute page via our obituaries page, hosted on A Memory Tree, so family overseas can leave their condolences
Aftercare and grief support once the service is over
Both arranged in full
Buried or cremated, we coordinate every step.
If you're undecided, we can talk you through the practical and cost differences with no pressure either way. The right answer is the one that feels right to your family.
For burials
We work with all the major South Auckland and Franklin cemeteries, Auckland Memorial Park, Northshore Memorial Park, including Manukau Memorial Gardens, Mangere Lawn Cemetery, Pukekohe Public Cemetery, Waikumete and others, and arrange plot purchase, interment fees and graveside services.
For cremations
We work with Manukau Memorial Gardens Crematorium, Mangere Lawn Cemetery and other Auckland crematoriums, and walk you through every choice.

What a funeral costs
Funeral costs in New Zealand vary widely, from the choice of casket, venue, catering to vehicles all change the total significantly.
If finances are a concern, we'll talk openly about which choices to reduce the cost, and we can help you check eligibility for the Work and Income NZ Funeral Grant, ACC funeral grant and other forms of support.
For families who'd prefer to make these decisions ahead of time, we also offer pre-planning, which locks in choices and reduces the burden on the family later.
How to start with funeral services
If you've recently lost someone, contact the family doctor first. If they're unavailable, or hadn't seen your loved one recently, you may need to call the police. Once that's done, call us at Pukekohe (09 238 4794) or Papatoetoe (09 278 8742). We answer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We'll arrange an immediate collection and walk you through what happens next.
If you're planning ahead rather than dealing with an immediate loss, we welcome a private conversation in either of our offices.
